EVEN deliberating the natural high that, in reality, being away from the day-by-day grind gives, if you come domestic from a holiday giddily thinking of no longer only a return visit but an everlasting pass, it’s an honest indication that you’ve had a terrific time.
The Netherlands has a whole lot to propose it as a holiday vacation spot, and now not just for the metropolis breaks with which we in Ireland in most cases companion it; it’s given scenic seaside cities and terrific seashores too, with nature reserves and networks of paths threaded via the miles of dunes that defend the low-lying interior from the North Sea.
Then there’s the Dutch mindset that we’re all on this collectively. This is manifested in realistic phrases, incomplete public delivery, a general air of calm (we heard an automobile horn blown once in 10 days), and courtesy, often extending to downright cheerfulness, at the enterprise-client interface. Since few outsiders talk Dutch and are accommodated through Dutch people talking (generally tremendous) English, such friendliness is no small.
Consideration for all comers is clear in the whole lot, from the structure (public housing and amenities don’t, it seems, should be poorly designed despite everything), to beneath-12s touring loose on buses and trains, to cause-constructed cycle lanes anywhere you move.
All of which, to reduce to the chase, makes it a secure-feeling, own family-pleasant, and problem-free location to spend your summer hols.
We spent a maximum of ours in Duinrell, a holiday and enjoyment park at the coast southwest of Amsterdam, approximately 10 miles north of The Hague.
